Country Arts Support Programme

Funder:  Orana Arts & Regional Arts NSW

Grant Background: The aim of the Country Arts Support Program is to support community arts and cultural development in regional NSW through small grants that:

  • Assist locally determined community arts and cultural activities.
  • Increase opportunities for regionally-based groups to access a diverse range of arts programs.
  • Enable communities to explore and express their cultural identities.
  • Bring social and economic benefits to the community through training, employment and promotional opportunities.
  • Lead to greater awareness and appreciation of cultural diversity.
  • Increase the sustainability and resilience of regionally based community arts organisations.

CASP is managed by Orana Arts through devolved funding from Create NSW. All applicants must discuss their project with Orana Arts and applications must be submitted via Smartygrants which can be accessed via the Regional Arts NSW website during the application opening period.

Objectives of the Arts & Cultural Projects (Round 2) funding category:

  • Strengthen professional arts and cultural development in the small-to- medium arts and cultural sector
  • Deliver a dynamic and diverse range of arts and cultural experiences to communities in NSW.
  • Develop excellence in arts and cultural practice and cultural leadership in NSW
  • Support for new initiatives and seed funding for small groups
  • Contribute to arts and cultural excellence and innovation.
  • Increase the accessibility of vibrant arts and culture.
  • Support the employment and development of professional artists and arts/cultural workers.
  • Deliver arts and cultural outcomes in ACDP Priority Areas.

Indigenous Visual Arts Industry Support Grant

Funder:  Federal – Department of Communications and the Arts

Grant Background: Funding will be provided to organisations for activities that best contribute to delivery of the following Program outcomes:

  • a professional, viable and ethical Indigenous visual arts industry that features strong participation and provides economic opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • the continued production, exhibition, critique, purchase and collection of Indigenous visual art.

Council for Australian-Arab Relations

Funder:  Federal – Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade

Grant Background: The Council for Australian-Arab Relations (CARR) aims to strengthen relations between Australia and the Arab world by:

  • empowering the peoples of Australia and the Arab world to develop a holistic and contemporary mutual understanding
  • supporting activities that encourage increased trade and investment between the two regions
  • supporting positive and collaborative relationships between Australia’s Arab diaspora communities and the broader Australian community.

The objectives of the CARR funding program are:

  • innovation and sustainability (eg environment, energy and waste management)
  • art and culture
  • social change (eg Work Health and Safety (WHS), health promotion, food / water safety, disease prevention).

Music Now Contemporary Live Music Fund

Funder:  Create NSW

Grant Background: The Music Now Contemporary Live Music Funding program will invest in a program of activities, events or performances that support NSW musicians to present new work and increase participation in live music events across NSW.

The Fund objectives are to:
• Encourage NSW venues to program more live music events
• Increase audience participation in live music events
• Support the presentation of original musical work by NSW musicians
• Increase paid employment opportunities for artists; and
• Increase the sustainability of the contemporary music sector

Examples of funding opportunities could include, but are not limited to:
• a series of public presentation opportunities for independent musicians.
• a series of outdoor live music events or a festival.
• a program of club nights for emerging hip hop/experimental/electronic musicians.

Indigenous Languages & Arts Programme

Funder:  Federal – Department of Communication & the Arts

Grant Background: The Indigenous Languages and Arts (ILA) grant program assists Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to express, preserve and maintain their cultures through languages and arts across Australia.

ILA program funding is vital for revitalising and maintaining our Indigenous languages and in ensuring continued support of Indigenous language workers and community-led language programs.

The ILA program provides grant funding to support the following objectives:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are empowered to preserve and teach their culture through languages and arts.
  • A strong sense of cultural identity and wellbeing in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, which contributes to sustainable and strong communities.
  • Celebration and increased recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages and arts in the wider Australian community.

Tropfest Australia 2019

Funder:  Film Freeway

Opportunity Background: Filmmakers, get out there and start making short films for the world’s largest short film festival. There are two competitions: Tropfest; and Trop Jr which is for filmmakers aged 15 and under at the date of the event.

Films can be about anything but need to include the annual Tropfest Signature Item (TSI), which for 2019 is “CANDLE”, for Tropfest entries and “PIZZA” for Trop Jr entries.

All films must follow the Tropfest Guidelines & Rules for submission: they must be made specifically for Tropfest, not be seen in public beforehand and be a world premiere, (including on-line), include the TSI and not be longer than 7 minutes in total
