Advancing Pest Control & Weed Control Solutions

Grant Background: The Advancing Pest Animal and Weed Control Solutions aims to research and develop innovative control solutions to improve the way established pest animals and weeds are managed.

Project applications must target invasive established pest animals or weed species that are not endemic to Australia or a particular part of Australia.

The outcomes of the grant round are to:

  • Advance a range of breakthrough control solutions that challenge traditional approaches to managing pest animals and weeds to enable better outcomes.
  • Deliver innovations that improve existing established pest animals and weeds control methods or tools, as well as improved detection and monitoring methods.
  • Further research into, and development of, new and enhanced ‘farm ready’ pest animals and weeds control tools to increase uptake and accessibility of these tools by farmers and land managers.

Community Litter Grant

Grant Background: The aim of the Community Litter Grant program is to help deliver the NSW Government target to reduce litter by 40% by 2020. All funded projects must include direct community leadership and participation in the development of litter prevention activities.

Grant funding is available in two streams:

Stream 1: On-Ground litter prevention projects

  • For groups who want to act on a locally identified litter issue at one or more locations
  • Projects in this stream will use proven methods of litter prevention to support the motivation of the community group to reduce litter.

Stream 2: Own It and Act partnership projects

  • Projects in this stream will be longer-term strategic state or regional litter prevention initiatives that may not be site-specific.
  • Projects must demonstrate how they build leadership and capacity of community groups to deliver ongoing litter prevention outcomes.
  • Projects in this stream must align with and support the Own It and Actstrategic framework developed by the DPIE Litter Prevention Unit.

Australian Geographic Society Sponsorship

NSW Wildlife Heroes Bushfire Emergency Fund

Grant Background: Through NSW Wildlife Heroes Bushfire Emergency program up to $200,000 is available to support bushfire related emergency activities over the 2019-20 financial year.

The program aims to achieve the following outputs:

  • Increase number of wildlife emergency responders in NSW
  • Decrease cost of emergency response to individual carers
  • Increase number of wildlife that can be rescued and cared for during an emergency
  • Enable wildlife groups to buy appropriate equipment and PPE for emergency response

The program aims to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Improve efficiency, safety and effectiveness of wildlife emergency response operations
  • Support wildlife volunteers to respond to emergencies (financially, organisationally, psychologically)
  • Improve wildlife group emergency response capacity long-term

Our Marine Parks Round Two

Community Conservation Grants

Grant Background: The purpose of our Community Conservation Grants is to assist in the protection of our native species, habitats, landscapes and cultural heritage.

Grants are available for both field projects and education programs that have a direct outcome for nature conservation in Australia.

FNPW Community Conservation Grants aim to fund urgent and high priority projects in the following Focus Areas:

  • Land and Water – Protection, restoration, rehabilitation and revegetation of degraded habitats to ensure their ability to sustain native species.
  • Threatened Species – Scientific research with tangible conservation outcomes and on-ground works to conserve Australia’s threatened species.
  • Cultural Heritage – Conserving and celebrating Australia’s cultural heritage as part of the gift we leave to future generations.
  • Parks for People – Improving National Park facilities for the enjoyment of all, to foster and encourage the appreciation of nature

Grant Background: The Australian Government is inviting applications for projects to deliver services under the National Landcare Program – Smart Farms Small Grants Round 3.

Smart Farms Small Grants is an open, competitive, grant opportunity to support projects to increase farming, forestry and fishing communities’ awareness, knowledge, skills and capacity to adopt best practice sustainable agriculture.

The purpose of Smart Farms Small Grants is to support land manager practice change that will deliver more sustainable, productive and profitable food, fibre and forestry business while protecting Australia’s biodiversity; protecting and improving the condition of natural resources; and assisting Australia meet its international obligations.

The purpose will be achieved by supporting projects that contribute to achieving one or both of the program outcomes outlined below:

  • Outcome 1 – Increased adoption of best practice sustainable agriculture
  • Outcome 2 – Increase the capacity of land managers to adopt best practice sustainable agriculture.

Grant Background: The Scheme provides support for people undertaking projects that will make a positive difference to the natural living environment, in land, sea or air, rural or urban.

They are looking for projects around:

  • flora and fauna conservation(Australia-wide)
  • threatened mammal conservation (Australia-wide)

These projects should involve any of the following:

  • monitoring, recording and sharing data
  • delivering community education
  • providing community capacity building (e.g. training)
  • research and science

What they fund:

  • Projects that directly make positive changes to biodiversity conservation in Australia.
  • Projects should have some short term outputs, but also have long term objectives and values.
  • Projects that show the following: enthusiasm, collaboration, passion, innovation
  • Projects that use citizen science
  • Projects that are about community education relating to conservation

Regional and Remote Communities Reliability Fund – Microgrids 2019-20

Grant Background: The Regional and Remote Communities Reliability Fund supports feasibility studies into more reliable, secure and cost effective energy supply to regional and remote communities in Australia.

The program will fund feasibility studies looking at microgrid technologies to replace, upgrade or supplement existing electricity supply arrangements in off-grid and fringe-off- grid communities located in regional and remote areas.

The objective of the program is to support regional and remote communities to investigate whether replacing, upgrading or supplementing a microgrid or upgrading existing off-grid and fringe-off-grid supply with microgrid or related new energy technologies would be cost effective.
