Grant Background: The Australian Government is inviting applications through an open competitive process to deliver projects under Outcome 3.1 Water Reform – Murray-Darling Basin Economic Development Program (Round 2) in eligible Murray-Darling Basin communities.
The Murray-Darling Basin Economic Development Program (Round 2) grants are funded from 2019-20 to 2022-23.
The objective of the program is to assist eligible communities to undertake economic development projects to respond to the impact of water recovery activities under the Murray-Darling Basin Plan.
The intended outcomes of the program are to: increase the capacity of eligible communities to diversify and strengthen local economies; enhance the resilience of these communities to manage current and future economic challenges and changes; and increase the opportunities for employment within these communities.
$ Available: Minimum grant is $10 000.00. Maximum grants available vary, but generally up to $450 000.
Eligibility: The second round of the program is open to 31 eligible communities including: those moderately impacted by water recovery activities under the Murray-Darling Basin Plan; those impacted by the proposed acquisition of A Class licenses in the Lower Darling and Barwon-Darling; and those announced as eligible during the 2019 federal election period. Only these identified communities are eligible for funding as part of this grant opportunity.
