Grant Background: The Traceability Grants Program provides opportunities for successful applicants to conduct projects that will enhance the supply chain traceability systems and arrangements that support the export of our agricultural commodities.

The objectives of the program are to:

  • Support industry projects that will enhance our agricultural supply chain traceability systems, including developing and trialling technologies that digitise information flow.
  • Provide an advantage for our exporters in overseas markets to assist them in maintaining their competitive edge.
  • Increase opportunities to export Australian commodities.

Smoke Taint & Apple Recovery Grants

Funder:  NSW – Rural Assistance Authority

Grant Background: The Commonwealth Government has announced new grants to support apple growers directly impacted by the 2019/2020 bushfires as well as wine grape producers impacted by smoke taint as a result of these bushfires.

While not directly impacted by flames, a number of wine grape producers were significantly impacted by smoke taint. This has led to a loss of approximately 4%, or 60,000 tonnes, of the national harvest for the 2020 vintage.

The 2019/2020 bushfires also caused significant localised damage to some apple growers in NSW. Grants for eligible businesses are available to assist with re-establishing damaged or destroyed apple orchards.

Black Summer Innovation Programme

Funder:  Food Innovation Australia Ltd (FIAL)

Grant Background: The Black Summer Innovation Program (BSIP) is a fund provided by FIAL designed to help small and medium businesses, who have been affected by events of national natural catastrophe or global diseases outbreaks (in 2019 or 2020). Funding is designed to support these businesses innovate to create commercial products, processes or services.

Grants of up to $25,000 are available to Australian food and agribusinesses geographically located in and affected by drought, flood, fire, African Swine Flu and coronavirus epidemic. Grants are to be used to support business, product or service innovations. No matched funding is required.

This fund aims to:

  • Encourage existing food and agribusinesses to pivot post natural disaster to use innovation for future success.
  • Access new and novel food processing, packaging and agricultural technologies.
  • Engage experts across the sector to identify and implement the innovation opportunities.
