Manufacturing Efficiency Funding

Funder:  NSW – Energy

Grant Background: The NSW Government is offering over $16 million in funding to help manufacturing businesses save energy and money.

The funding will help you:

  • upgrade energy monitoring systems
  • replace or retrofit old, inefficient equipment
  • install new energy efficient equipment
  • improve manufacturing processes.

If you’re successful, you’ll get up to $120,000 in matched funding per site, to implement a project that saves gas or electricity.

Building Partnerships Grants

Funder:  NSW – Jobs for NSW

Grant Background: Building Partnerships grants help revenue generating startups and small to medium enterprises (SMEs) scale or grow strategically through the acquisition of a key customer or channel to market.

Building Partnership grants require start-ups or SMEs to have an innovative solution that addresses a market gap or opportunity and the collaboration of a consortium of partners.

The goals of the program are to enable a start-up or an existing SME with a growth plan to:

  • expand or pivot an innovative product or solution
  • acquire a major customer
  • deliver at scale
  • or build access to a new market.

Eligible businesses can receive up to 35% of the approved project costs. The approved project costs may include:

  • further developing a product and/or solution
  • progressing early stage commercialisation i.e. product training or product testing
  • acquiring and retaining talent.

Business Growth Grants

Funder:  Federal – Business

Grant Background: If you have received a business management service and your business adviser/facilitator recommends specific business improvement activities to increase your business’s capability to trade in Australian markets and/or markets in other countries, you can apply for a business growth grant.

Business growth grants are small grants to engage external expertise to help you implement the recommendations in your plan. The grant amount is up to 50 per cent of eligible project costs.

The grant is available to support strategies that improve the abilities and skills of your business to trade in Australian markets and/or markets in other countries. It is not intended to support fixes for problems that are part of ordinary, everyday operations of your business.

Landing Pads Program

Funder:  Federal – Austrade

Grant Background: Landing Pads are an initiative of the Australian Government’s National Innovation and Science Agenda to stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship.

The program will establish Landing Pads within global innovation hubs, including San Francisco, Tel Aviv, Shanghai, Berlin and Singapore.

Australian market-ready startups will have the opportunity to be immersed in an environment that will help them accelerate the design and development of their product or service business model by exploring in-market business development, investment, mentorship and strategic partnership opportunities.

The program will provide successful applicants with a workspace for up to 90 days within an established startup accelerator, giving you the opportunity to work alongside some of the best startup enterprises from around the world and access to an ecosystem of talent, advice and solutions.

You will have access to all the services offered by the accelerator including coaching, introductions to mentors, investors and customers, training opportunities, tailored networking events and state-of-the-art workspace facilities.

An Austrade Landing Pad coordinator based in the market will also provide you with:

  • guidance on identifying and targeting customers
  • advice on how to access angel investors, venture capital and other potential sources of investment
  • introductions to local government agencies offering support programs for new businesses and startups
  • advice on how to leverage networks in the market to meet with peers, decision makers and influencers
  • referrals to professional services and advisory firms
  • advice on how to negotiate the local business culture.

Grant Background: The Free Trade Agreement Market Entry (FTA-ME) Grant provides funding for Australian member-based business organisations (chambers of commerce, business associations, industry associations, bilateral chambers and peak industry bodies), universities and TAFE colleges to deliver market entry strategies aimed at helping Australian SMEs and stakeholders access FTA target markets.
