Tackling Tough Times Together

Funder:  Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal

Grant Background: The Tackling Tough Times Together (TTTT) program gives drought-affected communities across remote, rural and regional Australia the opportunity to access funds that benefit their immediate and long-term needs. Grants are available for grassroots, community-led initiatives that directly benefit local communities, with the objective of the program being to help drought-affected communities.

Applications received must address at least one of the following Program Objectives:

  1. Reduce social isolationby facilitating strong social cohesion and connection;
  2. Support and engage the community in leadership development and skills training;
  3. Support opportunities for social and educational participation and address disadvantagecaused by the drought, for children and young people;
  4. Reduce volunteer fatigue and build the capacity, capability and sustainability of local not-for-profit organisations to provide support to their communities, particularly where they are playing an increased role during the drought; and
  5. Support local economic recovery or renewal through projects that stimulate economic activity and cash-flow within communities.

Future Drought Fund: Drought Resilience Research and Adoption Program – Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hubs

Funder:  Federal – Agriculture

Grant Background: The Australian Government is inviting applications to deliver services under the Future Drought Fund: Drought Resilience Research and Adoption Program – Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hubs (Hubs).

This program will establish eight regionally-focused Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hubs. The Hubs will be located in regional areas that reflect the key agricultural and climatic zones across the country. The regions targeted are:

  • Southern NSW
  • Southern QLD/Northern NSW
  • South-West WA
  • Victoria
  • Top End NT/WA
  • Tropical North Queensland
  • South Australia

The Hubs will be multidisciplinary and inclusive ensuring that the focus of the Hubs is to support agricultural industries and communities to adapt, reorganise and transform so that they are more resilient to future droughts.

The Hubs will support networks of key stakeholders to work together, including primary producers, grower and community groups, industry, researchers, entrepreneurs, education institutions and governments to:

  • provide extension, adoption and commercialisation support
  • plan co-designed and demand driven drought resilience research, development, extension, adoption and commercialisation (RDEA&C).

Future Drought Fund: Natural Resource Management Drought Resilience Programme

Grant Background: The Australian Government is inviting applications under the Future Drought Fund: Natural Resource Management Drought Resilience Program – Grants. The Program is focused on support for experimentation in NRM practices, systems and approaches that go beyond current best practice. This aims to foster innovation and transformational change in the management of Natural Capital to deliver drought resilience in agricultural landscapes.

Through holistic management and adoption of new or existing technology and practices, this program will deliver a range of on-ground outcomes achieving benefits that meet local priorities and contribute to landscape-scale drought resilience.

Mental Health Sports Fund

Funder:  NSW – Sport

Grant Background: Drought has had an enormous impact across NSW and particularly in regional areas. The Mental Health Sports Fund provides NSW based sporting bodies with funding for sport led mental health, social and emotional wellbeing initiatives in regional NSW.

The objectives of the Grant program are to:

  • Conduct a community driven and well supported mental health initiative
  • Deliver mental health and wellbeing benefits to individuals in regional communities
  • Establish connections between community sporting clubs and mental health organisations for ongoing referral and support pathways
  • Promote resilience in the sporting sector or among local sporting clubs.

Building Better Regions Fund – Infrastructure Projects Stream – Round 4 – Drought Support

Funder:  Federal – Infrastructure

Grant Background: The $841.6 million Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF) supports the Australian Government’s commitment to:

  • create jobs
  • drive economic growth
  • build stronger regional communities into the future

For Round 4 there is a total of $200 million available to support drought-affected regions by targeting projects that will benefit communities affected by drought.

The Infrastructure Projects Stream supports projects that provide economic and social benefits to regional and remote areas. The projects can be either construction of new infrastructure or the upgrade or extension of existing infrastructure.
