Grant Background: The Visions of Australia regional exhibition touring program supports audience access to Australian arts and cultural material, with a particular focus on tours to regional and remote Australia.  The Visions of Australia program funds the development and touring of exhibitions of cultural material of historic, scientific, design, social or artistic significance.

Tours must include at least three venues outside the organisation’s home state or territory. Regional and remote venues are a higher priority for funding.

Tackling Tough Times Together

Funder:  Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal

Grant Background: The Tackling Tough Times Together (TTTT) program gives drought-affected communities across remote, rural and regional Australia the opportunity to access funds that benefit their immediate and long-term needs. Grants are available for grassroots, community-led initiatives that directly benefit local communities, with the objective of the program being to help drought-affected communities.

Applications received must address at least one of the following Program Objectives:

  1. Reduce social isolationby facilitating strong social cohesion and connection;
  2. Support and engage the community in leadership development and skills training;
  3. Support opportunities for social and educational participation and address disadvantagecaused by the drought, for children and young people;
  4. Reduce volunteer fatigue and build the capacity, capability and sustainability of local not-for-profit organisations to provide support to their communities, particularly where they are playing an increased role during the drought; and
  5. Support local economic recovery or renewal through projects that stimulate economic activity and cash-flow within communities.

Regional and Remote Communities Reliability Fund – Microgrids 2020-21

Grant Background: The Regional and Remote Communities Reliability Fund – Microgrids was announced to support feasibility studies into more reliable, secure and cost effective energy supply to regional and remote communities in Australia.

The program will fund feasibility studies looking at microgrid technologies to replace, upgrade or supplement existing electricity supply arrangements in off-grid and fringe-of grid communities located in regional and remote areas. This will be achieved through:

  • improved regional business, community services and emergency resilience through innovative microgrid solutions
  • scaled-up and improved microgrid systems in regional and remote communities
  • increased human capital (skills/knowledge) in the design and deployment of microgrids
  • demonstrated commerciality and/or reliability and security benefits of deploying and upgrading microgrids
  • reduced barriers to microgrid uptake in remote and regional communities
  • increased dissemination of technology and/or project knowledge regarding the deployment and upgrading of microgrids.

Remote Airstrip Upgrade Programme

Grant Background: The Remote Airstrip Upgrade Program provides grants to enhance the safety and accessibility of aerodromes in remote and very remote areas of Australia. It will provide year round all weather access, particularly where road access is unavailable or unreliable. This will:

  • improve the safety of aircraft, operators and passengers using remote and very remote airstrips
  • facilitate improved delivery of essential goods and services such as food supplies, health care, community mail and passenger air services
  • support delivery of health care services by the Royal Flying Doctor Service and similar providers
  • complement air services delivery to communities subsidised under the Australian Government’s Remote Aviation Access Program through the Remote Air Services Subsidy Scheme
  • meet operational requirements of the RFDS or operators providing similar aeromedical services.

Enhancing Country Health Outcomes

 Grant Background:  The Enhancing Country Health Outcomes (ECHO) grant program aims to improve health outcomes for people living in rural, regional and remote Victoria and New South Wales.

The program provides targeted funds for charitable initiatives delivered by not-for-profit organisations that strengthen, improve accessibility and retain quality and contextually appropriate primary health care services in local communities.

Priority will be given to locally driven initiatives, based in rural, regional and remote Victorian and New South Wales communities that:

  1. Improve accessibility and availability of innovative public primary health service delivery that while publicly available, is difficult to access;
  2. Enable communities to attract and retain a multi-disciplinary health workforce,including General Practitioners and allied health workers, through innovative and novel approaches;
  3. Support the rural, regional and remote health workforce in being prepared for living and thriving in their / these communities;
  4. Provide innovative responses to local health needs that are collaborative, integrated and help create systemic change;
  5. Develop and implement evidence-based, best-practice models of care that are affordable, acceptable and appropriate to meeting the primary health care needs of people living in rural, regional and remote areas.

Rural, Regional & Remote Clinical Trial Enabling Infrastructure Grant

Funder:  Federal – Health

Grant Background:  The 2019 Rural, Regional and Remote Clinical Trial Enabling Infrastructure grant opportunity focuses on new and innovative approaches to enhancing and improving clinical trial infrastructure (including facilities, research equipment, systems and services) – by extending existing or providing new clinical trials into rural, regional and remote areas.

The objectives of the grant opportunity are:

  • improved facilities, equipment, services and systems in rural, regional and remote Australia
  • improved quality of care and health outcomes for patients through quicker and easier access to medical treatments, drugs, therapies and devices, through participation in clinical trials
  • reduced burden, costs and risks for patients and their families related to clinical trial participation
  • increased research capacity, including linkages, leveraging and enhancements of existing local and national structures, organisations, facilities and/or workforce, with flow-on effects to broader health services.

The intended outcome of the grant opportunity is improved access to clinical trials by Australians living in rural, regional and remote areas of Australia.

Visions of Australia Rnd 10

Funder:  Federal – Communications

Grant Background: The objectives of the Visions of Australia Program are to:

  • increase access for Australian audiences to exhibitions of quality Australian arts and cultural material, with a particular focus on regional and remote Australia
  • encourage partnerships between organisations such as museums and galleries, particularly collaboration across the collections sector, to form curatorial partnerships and where appropriate, access to mentoring and skills transfer opportunities

Funding is delivered through two streams: development or touring, supporting costs such as research, design, production, transport, installation and personnel.

Funding is available through annual or multiyear funding agreements subject to available funds.

Grant Background: The Regional and Remote Communities Reliability Fund supports feasibility studies into more reliable, secure and cost effective energy supply to regional and remote communities in Australia.

The program will fund feasibility studies looking at microgrid technologies to replace, upgrade or supplement existing electricity supply arrangements in off-grid and fringe-off- grid communities located in regional and remote areas.

The objective of the program is to support regional and remote communities to investigate whether replacing, upgrading or supplementing a microgrid or upgrading existing off-grid and fringe-off-grid supply with microgrid or related new energy technologies would be cost effective.
