Surf Club Facility Programme

Grant Background: The Surf Club Facility Programme assists Surf Life Saving Clubs throughout NSW to develop their facilities to increase the usage, safety and participation in Surf Life Saving and at Surf Life Saving facilities used by the general public and/or Surf Life Saving Club members.

Funding is prioritised in line with:

  • the Premier’s Priorities
  • the Office of Sport Strategic Plan and priorities
  • Surf Life Saving NSW Strategic Plan; and
  • projects that address a community need and demonstrate inclusive design principles.

The key objectives of the Program are:

  • Participation: Increase the usage and/or participant numbers in Surf Life Saving.
  • Access: Increase the use of Surf Life Saving facilities by community groups and/or the public; and
  • Safety: Improve safety at Surf Life Saving facilities.

Local Sport Grant Programme

 Grant Background: The Local Sport Grant Program (LSGP) aims to increase regular and on-going participation opportunities in sport in NSW.  The Local Sports Grant funding is available across all electorates in NSW.

There are four project types within the Program:

  1.  Sport Development
    2.    Sport Event
    3.    Sport Access
    4.    Sport Facility

The overall objectives of the Program are to:

  • Increase regular and on-going participation in sport
  • Increase participation and access for women, girls or population groups with low rates of participation
  • Address barriers to participation in sport or structured physical activity
  • Assist sport clubs to provide quality service to their members and meet community needs.

NSW ICC T20 World Cup 2020 Cricket Legacy Fund

Grant Background The NSW ICC T20 World Cup 2020 Cricket Legacy Fund (‘the Fund’) is an initiative established by the NSW Government to be administered in the lead up to the ICC T20 World Cup tournament in 2020.

The Fund will provide assistance to community cricket clubs, associations and local councils.

The Fund aims to improve cricket facilities and supporting infrastructure, increase participation opportunities, improve female player pathways and enable hosting of elite cricket content in Regional NSW.

The key objectives of the Fund are as follows:

  • Improve the quality and/or quantity of cricket facilities in NSW.
  • Improve female participation pathways for players, officials and coaches through the implementation of new or enhanced programs.
  • Ensure that regional NSW locations meet requirements to host elite state and national level events.

Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program

Grant Background: The Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program provides NSW sports clubs and councils the opportunity to acquire an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) package for their club or sports facility at a reduced cost.

An AED is a life saving device which delivers a controlled shock to an individual experiencing cardiac arrest, increasing their chances of survival.

Sporting organisations and councils will be able to choose from a panel of approved AED Panel Service Providers and a variety of AED packaged services with the level of customer service that meets their needs.

An AED package will include:

  • An AED
  • AED familiarisation instruction (within 28 days of delivery)
  • A minimum of six years of essential AED maintenance

Mental Health Sports Fund

Grant Background: Drought has had an enormous impact across NSW and particularly in regional areas. The Mental Health Sports Fund provides NSW based sporting bodies with funding for sport led mental health, social and emotional wellbeing initiatives in regional NSW.

The objectives of the Grant program are to:

  • Conduct a community driven and well supported mental health initiative
  • Deliver mental health and wellbeing benefits to individuals in regional communities
  • Establish connections between community sporting clubs and mental health organisations for ongoing referral and support pathways
  • Promote resilience in the sporting sector or among local sporting clubs.

Driving Social Inclusion through Sport and Physical Activity

Grant Background: This grant opportunity will use sport and physical activity projects to address inclusion issues for vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals and seeks to enhance wellbeing and instill a sense of community belonging.

Using sport and physical activity, the grant opportunity aims to contribute to the building of resilient, cohesive and harmonious communities to ensure that individuals, families and communities have the opportunity to thrive and have the capacity to respond to emerging needs and challenges.

The grant opportunity will target the following community groups to engage in sport and physical activity projects:
–  newly arrived migrants and refugees;
–  women;
–  people with a physical or mental disability; and
–  Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The intended outcomes of the grant opportunity are to:
–  increase the participation of vulnerable, disadvantaged individuals and families from targeted community groups in sport and physical activity;
–  increase community pride and connection within targeted community groups; and
–  increase the range of flexible, community based, participation opportunities available.

This year’s program has been established to:

  • target opportunities specifically for women and girls
  • overall participation opportunities
  • support local communities affected by drought.

The Local Sports Grant funding is available across all electorates in NSW.

There are four project types within the Program:

  1. Sport Development
  2. Community Sport Events
  3. Sport Access
  4. Facility Development.

The overall objectives of the Program are to:

  • Increase regular and on-going participation in sport or structured physical activity.
  • Address barriers to participation in sport or structured physical activity.
  • Assist sport clubs provide quality service to their members.
  • Increase the number of well-managed facilities that meet the needs of users.

Greater Sydney Sports Facility Fund

Grant Background: The Greater Sydney Sports Facility Fund has been established by the NSW Government to create spaces and places that enable communities to participate in sport at all levels. The fund will invest in new and existing facilities to improve the quality and quantity of sports infrastructure across Greater Sydney.

The main objective of the Greater Sydney Sports Facility Fund is to ensure funding is allocated to those sporting facilities that deliver the best outcomes for the communities they support.

The aim is to ensure that the right investments in community sport facilities are made and that the best value possible is achieved.

The overall program objectives are to:

  • Increase the number and type of sport facilities
  • Improve the standard of existing sport facilities
  • Increase participation in sport.

Tomorrow Fund

Grant Background: AMP’s Tomorrow Fund is giving amazing Australians doing great things the chance to share $1 million in grants. It’s open to individuals of all ages, walks of life, interests and abilities who have put a lot of time and effort into reaching a goal that will positively impact the community, but need help to take it to the next level.

AMP is looking for Tomorrow Makers – individuals who can make a difference in the community, either by creating something special or inspiring others.

Grants ranging from $5,000 to $100,000 will be awarded later in 2019 for a range of activities, including training, travel, equipment and research.
