Community War Memorials Fund

Grant Background:  The NSW Government established the Community War Memorials Fund to help conserve, repair and protect war memorials across NSW.

Since the establishment of the program in 2008, grants have been provided for a wide range of projects including conservation assessments, honour roll repair, war memorial cleaning and conservation work, arborist advice for war memorial trees, security measures for memorials, repairs to war memorial halls and improvements to the accessibility of memorials.

ANZAC Community Grants

Grant Background:  The Anzac Community Grants Program provides small grants for a range of projects that commemorate and educate New South Wales communities about the service and sacrifices of current and former military servicemen and women.

Projects which support activities benefiting the NSW veteran community are also eligible for funding.

Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Programme

Funder:  Federal – Department of Veterans’ Affairs

Grant Background:  The Saluting Their Service Commemorations Program aims to preserve Australia’s wartime heritage and involve people around the nation in a wide range of projects and activities that highlight the service and sacrifice of Australia’s service personnel in wars, conflicts and peace operations. Projects and activities should promote appreciation and understanding of the experiences of service and the roles that those who served have played in shaping the nation.

There are two categories of grants available under the program:

  1. Community Grants: To a maximum of $10,000 are available for local, community-based projects and activities.
  2. Major Grants: Between $10,001 and $150,000 are available for major commemorative projects and activities that are significant from a national, state, territory and/or regional perspective.

Saluting Their Service Commemorations Programme

Grant Background: The Saluting Their Service Commemorations Program is designed to preserve Australia’s wartime heritage and to involve people throughout the nation in a wide range of projects and activities that highlight the service and sacrifice of Australia’s service personnel in wars, conflicts and peace operations, and promote appreciation and understanding of the role that those who served have played in shaping the nation.

Grant projects may include:

  • New national/state/territory or otherwise significant war memorials where none exists and where the new memorial will be the focus of commemoration.
  • New honour boards/rolls or plaques
  • The restoration of existing national/state/territory or otherwise significant war memorials
  • Significant (national/state/territory level) commemorative events
  • Nationally significant cultural and educational projects with a military heritage focus and that add to the sum of knowledge on a particular topic or which provide access to information about Australia’s wartime heritage to a national/state/territory audience.
