Great Southern Nights – Venue EOI

Funder:  Destination NSW

Grant Background:  In November 2020, the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) in partnership with Destination NSW (DNSW) presented an Australian-first live music initiative, Great Southern Nights.

Great Southern Nights saw a diverse range of artists perform over 1,000 gigs across New South Wales, and stimulated the live music, entertainment and hospitality sectors, and in turn the visitor economy, during the recovery phase of COVID-19.

The purpose of this Venue Call is to invite eligible venues to apply to host gigs in the Great Southern Nights program. Gigs staged as a part of Great Southern Nights will be held in venues of varying scale.

NSW Performing Arts COVID Support Package

Funder:  Create NSW

Grant Background: The NSW Performing Arts COVID Support Package is to provide urgent financial support to performing arts venues, producers and promoters impacted by the cancellation or postponement of performances resulting from the NSW Government COVID-19 Public Health Orders from 26 June 2021.

The package is also designed to provide certainty to performing arts venues, producers and promoters of what assistance will be available if further COVID-19 Public Health Orders result in further cancellation of performances or restrictions in audience numbers.

Visions of Australia

Grant Background: The objectives of the Visions of Australia Grant Program are to:

  • increase access for Australian audiences to exhibitions of quality Australian arts and cultural material, with a particular focus on regional and remote Australia
  • encourage partnerships between organisations such as museums and galleries, particularly collaboration across the collections sector, to form curatorial partnerships and where appropriate, access to mentoring and skills transfer opportunities.

Festivals Australia

Grant Background: Festivals Australia provides funding to support individual art projects at festivals or significant one-off community events, such as a town’s centenary celebration or opening of a major new community resource.

Festivals Australia will:

  • provide access to a diverse range of high quality, innovative arts projects that grow audiences at festivals across regional Australia
  • support partnerships and collaboration across the arts sector
  • encourage community participation in arts projects at regional and remote festivals.

Indigenous Languages & Arts

Grant Background: The overarching outcome of the Indigenous Languages & Arts (ILA) Program is to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to express, preserve and maintain their cultures through Indigenous languages and arts activities.

Grant funding allocated through the ILA Program supports three key outcomes:

  • the empowerment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to preserve and teach their culture through languages and arts
  • a strong sense of cultural identity and wellbeing in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, which contributes to sustainable and strong communities
  • celebration and increased recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages and arts in the wider Australian community

Aboriginal Benefits Grant

Funder:  Aboriginal Benefits Foundation Trust

Grant Background: The Aboriginal Benefits Foundation provides grants to assist Aboriginal communities and individuals by providing funds to support projects which advance the aims of the Foundation, with the current focus on supporting art, literacy, education, health and cultural projects with a connection to Aboriginal art and/or artists.

They are most interested in applications for projects:

  • aimed at benefiting rural, regional or remote communities
  • that would typically ‘fall through the cracks’ because they are not eligible for government funding
  • with staged development, for example, deliverables funded in year 1 with scope for additional deliverables with additional funding over year 2-3 subject to progress

$ Available: From $5 000-$20 000 per year.

Eligibility:  The ABF only supports organisations or companies endorsed as a “Deductible Gift Recipient” (DGR). Evidence of this is a requirement for receiving their grants.

Key Dates: Closes on 1 September 2021.

Funder:  Federal – Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade

Grant Background: Cultural diplomacy plays a vital role in international relations, offering unique opportunities to foster mutual understanding and build relationships. The key aim of cultural diplomacy is sustained purposeful engagement to promote Australia’s cultural and creative industries overseas; to establish networks; and support ongoing collaborations and exchange.

Cultural diplomacy shows our core values and promotes Australia as an innovative, creative, diverse and tolerant nation; and as an attractive place to live, work, study, and invest.

The objectives of the grant opportunity are to:

  • support the economic and social recovery efforts of the Australian creative industry sector
  • promote Australia’s economic, artistic and cultural assets to an international audience
  • influence perceptions of Australia at home and aboard
  • build people-to-people and/or institutional links internationally
  • leverage existing partnerships and foster engagement with key stakeholders in line with DFAT’s

  • improve the quality and excellence of arts and culture in NSW

Arts Sustainability Fund

Funder:  Federal – Infrastructure

Grant Background: With the COVID-19 pandemic affecting all of Australia’s arts and cultural sector, the operations and financial stability of arts organisations have been significantly affected resulting in some organisations being at risk of insolvency.

The Arts Sustainability Fund will support the arts and entertainment sector to continue its activities with funding targeted towards significant Australian Government funded arts organisations to help them remain solvent. The program is intended to assist by providing the necessary finance to plan a pathway for recovery from the effects of COVID-19. This will support the employment of workers and contribute to rebuilding Australia’s economy, as well as enhancing community wellbeing and access to cultural experiences across Australia.
