Arts & Culture Funding

Funder:  Create NSW

Grant Background: The NSW Government is calling for applications from individual artists, arts and cultural workers, practitioners and organisations across NSW for Round Two of Create NSW’s 2020/2021 Arts and Cultural Funding Program.

The NSW Government strongly encourages applications across a wide range of artforms and disciplines, from Museums and History to Contemporary Music, to Aboriginal Arts and Culture and Classical Music, and is committed to funding artistic development across the State, to supporting our First Nations culture, and nurturing all our talented artists. The funding will support the diversity of talent across NSW, which will also deliver great outcomes for our arts and culture economy and for the people of NSW.

Round Two of Create NSW’s 2020/2021 Arts and Cultural Funding Program is now open for Annual Organisation, Project and Creative Koori Project categories.

Indigenous Visual Arts Industry Support 2020/21 Grant

Funder:  Federal – Infrastructure

Grant Background: The Indigenous Visual Arts Industry Support 2020/21 Grant will fund organisations for activities that best contribute to delivery of the following Program outcomes:

  • a professional, viable and ethical Indigenous visual arts industry that features strong participation and provides economic opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • the continued production, exhibition, critique, purchase and collection of Indigenous visual art.

Live Music Australia

Funder:  Federal – Infrastructure

Grant Background: The Live Music Australia program will provide support to the live music sector, with a focus on small to medium venues that support high quality original Australian live music that is professionally staged. It aims to revive business ventures in local suburbs, towns and regions across the country, building capacity for a sustainable live music scene with strong community roots, in all parts of Australia. The first year of funding is aimed at preparing live music venues to become operational following the impacts of COVID-19 on the industry.

The program will:

  • support the development, growth and innovation of Australian contemporary live music by increasing performance opportunities for original contemporary music by Australian artists
  • support a sustainable venue-based live music industry by building professional capacity within venues
  • support partnerships, collaboration and networks across the Australian live music industry.

Vibrant Arts

Funder:  Ian Potter Foundation

Grant Background: A dynamic and well-resourced arts sector is central to a culturally rich, vibrant and innovative society. The Ian Potter Foundation is interested in enhancing the calibre and capacity of the arts sector and supporting excellent organisations to raise the bar of aspiration and achievement.

 Objectives:

  • To support first-rate artistic institutions and organisations in metropolitan and regional Australia which are distinctive in artistic achievement, imagination and innovation in fostering development across a sector or art form.
  • To support such institutions to host artists in high-calibre professional development and/or leadership opportunities of at least 12 months (e.g. fellowships, apprenticeships, mentorships, internships). Continue reading “Vibrant Arts”

Creative Kids

Funder:  Create NSW

Grant Background: Creative Kids is a $216 million, four-year initiative designed to make it easier for school-aged children and young people to get involved in creative and cultural activities. There are a range of Providers, including artists, cultural practitioners, and arts and cultural organisations across NSW. This program creates opportunities for Providers to reach new audiences and grow business.

Creative Kids encompasses a wide range of eligible activities face-to-face and online, including:

  • lessons/workshops from drama workshops to language classes and lots more
  • cultural learning experiences such as Aboriginal cultural learning programs
  • participation packages such as attendance at a ticketed performance followed by a Q&A with professional artists.

Arts Sustainability Fund

Funder:  Federal – Infrastructure

Grant Background: The Arts Sustainability Fund supports the arts and entertainment sector to continue its activities by providing necessary finance to plan a pathway for recovery from the effects of COVID‑19. Funding will support employment and contribute to rebuilding Australia’s economy, as well as enhancing community wellbeing and access to cultural experiences across Australia.

The intended outcomes of the program are:

  • significant Commonwealth-funded performing arts and culture organisations remain solvent; and
  • Australian communities continue to benefit from the work of significant Commonwealth-funded organisations as the key employers of Australian artists and art workers, leading presenters of high-quality work and as the trainers of Australia’s upcoming performing artists.

Regional Arts Recovery Boost

Funder:  NSW – Regional Arts

Grant Background: Recovery grants are designed to meet the medium-term recovery needs of artists, organisations and communities. Projects in this program should focus on activities that assist in recovery from bushfire, drought, and/or the impacts of COVID-19.

 All RAF Recovery projects must be completed by 30 June 2024

The objectives of the Fund are to support and promote participation in, and access to, Australia’s arts and culture in regional and remote Australia by:

  • Encouraging and supporting sustainable economic, social and cultural development in regional communities;
  • Developing partnerships and networks which leverage financial and/or in-kind support for specific projects and encourage ongoing collaboration;
  • Developing audiences and broadening community engagement with the arts; and
  • Increasing employment and professional development opportunities for, and raise the profile of, regional and remote artists.

Festivals Australia

Funder:  Federal – Infrastructure

Grant Background: Festivals Australia provides funding to support individual art projects at festivals or significant one-off community events, such as a town’s centenary celebration or opening of a major new community resource.

Festivals Australia will:

  • provide access to a diverse range of high quality, innovative arts projects that grow audiences at festivals across regional Australia
  • support partnerships and collaboration across the arts sector
  • encourage community participation in arts projects at regional and remote festivals.

Country Arts Support Programme

Funder:  Regional Arts NSW

Grant Background: Country Arts Support Program (CASP) is an annual small grants program and is guided by the Arts and Cultural Funding Program’s three major objectives:

  • grow creative leadership and programming excellence in NSW
  • strengthen NSW arts and cultural activity that drives community and social benefits
  • showcase NSW as a leader for strategic arts and cultural governance and strong financial management.

The program aims to support community arts and cultural development in regional NSW through small grants that:

  • assist locally determined community arts and cultural activities
  • increase opportunities for regionally based groups to access a diverse range of arts programs
  • enable communities to explore and express their cultural identities
  • bring social and economic benefits to the community through training, employment and promotional opportunities
  • lead to greater awareness and appreciation of cultural diversity
  • increase the sustainability and resilience of regionally based community arts organisations

  • arts activities as part of community festivals or events
  • artist-in-residence programs

Restart Investment to Sustain and Expand (RISE) Fund

Funder:  Federal – Infrastructure

Grant Background: With the COVID-19 pandemic affecting all of Australia’s arts and cultural sector, the operations and financial stability of arts organisations have been significantly affected.

The RISE Fund is delivered to support artists and organisations affected by COVID-19 through the delivery and presentation of activities across all art forms to audiences across Australia. Projects that target audiences in outer metropolitan, regional and remote areas will also be taken into account, as well as projects that involve tours and use local regional production, services and support acts.

Activities will contribute to the organisation’s financial viability, job creation, and support for Australian artists or performers and their work. They will provide experiences to audiences, and/or be of a nature that is likely to be popular with Australian audiences.
