Grant Background: A dynamic and well-resourced arts sector is central to a culturally rich, vibrant and innovative society. The Ian Potter Foundation is interested in enhancing the calibre and capacity of the arts sector and supporting excellent organisations to raise the bar of aspiration and achievement.

 Objectives:

  • To support first-rate artistic institutions and organisations in metropolitan and regional Australia which are distinctive in artistic achievement, imagination and innovation in fostering development across a sector or art form.

Creative Kids

Funder:  Create NSW

Grant Background: Creative Kids is a $216 million, four-year initiative designed to make it easier for school-aged children and young people to get involved in creative and cultural activities. There are a range of Providers, including artists, cultural practitioners, and arts and cultural organisations across NSW. This program creates opportunities for Providers to reach new audiences and grow business.

Creative Kids encompasses a wide range of eligible activities face-to-face and online, including:

  • lessons/workshops from drama workshops to language classes and lots more
  • cultural learning experiences such as Aboriginal cultural learning programs
  • participation packages such as attendance at a ticketed performance followed by a Q&A with professional artists.

Arts Sustainability Fund

Funder:  Federal – Infrastructure

Grant Background: The Arts Sustainability Fund supports the arts and entertainment sector to continue its activities by providing necessary finance to plan a pathway for recovery from the effects of COVID‑19. Funding will support employment and contribute to rebuilding Australia’s economy, as well as enhancing community wellbeing and access to cultural experiences across Australia.

The intended outcomes of the program are:

  • significant Commonwealth-funded performing arts and culture organisations remain solvent; and
  • Australian communities continue to benefit from the work of significant Commonwealth-funded organisations as the key employers of Australian artists and art workers, leading presenters of high-quality work and as the trainers of Australia’s upcoming performing artists.

Regional Arts Recovery Boost

Funder:  NSW – Regional Arts

Grant Background: Recovery grants are designed to meet the medium-term recovery needs of artists, organisations and communities. Projects in this program should focus on activities that assist in recovery from bushfire, drought, and/or the impacts of COVID-19.

 All RAF Recovery projects must be completed by 30 June 2024

The objectives of the Fund are to support and promote participation in, and access to, Australia’s arts and culture in regional and remote Australia by:

  • Encouraging and supporting sustainable economic, social and cultural development in regional communities;
  • Developing partnerships and networks which leverage financial and/or in-kind support for specific projects and encourage ongoing collaboration;
  • Developing audiences and broadening community engagement with the arts; and
  • Increasing employment and professional development opportunities for, and raise the profile of, regional and remote artists.

Small Projects Grants (Quick Response)

Funder:  Create NSW

Grant Background: Small Project Grants support the creation, development and presentation of new work and professional development or promotion for NSW-based professional artists and arts and cultural workers.

Create NSW’s Small Project Grants have been redefined to address the Covid-19 public health orders. They will:

  • enable professional artists and arts and cultural workers to participate in outstanding time-sensitive opportunities in online and other means than in-person contact
  • build the capacity and skills of professional artists and arts and cultural workers, through online mentoring, development and residency opportunities
  • support professional artists and arts and cultural workers to develop new projects in their private residence
  • support professional artists to explore the possibilities of presenting work online, through broadcast/podcast/videocast or through other networked means than in-person contact
  • support professional artists to respond to the impacts of the 2019 bushfire season and COVID-19 crises, for local communities, in supportive and creative ways
  • strengthen the capacity of NSW-based professional artists and arts and cultural workers to become arts and cultural leaders.

Funder:  The Copyright Agency

Grant Background: The Copyright Agency’s Cultural Fund offers grants to leading organisations for projects that deliver exceptional opportunities for Australian writers, journalists, editors, English and literacy teachers, visual artists and key industry stakeholders in the writing, publishing, education, and visual arts sectors.

With these grants, their aim is to support their members and key industry stakeholders to create, award, present, publish, and to offer significant professional development and career sustaining opportunities for writers and visual artists.

The Cultural Fund encourages potential applicants to create opportunities for writers and visual artists at all career stages.

Independent Arts & Cultural Organisation Multi-Year Funding

Funder:  NSW – Create NSW

Grant Background: Independent Organisation funding supports Independent Arts and Cultural Organisations to deliver, develop and present multiple arts and cultural activities over a 2+2 year period. Funding will commence from 2020/21 and can contribute to any aspect of an organisation’s program.

Funding is available for a wide range of arts and cultural activity, including:

  • creation of new work, practice-based research or experimentation and professional development
  • production, exhibition, presenting, publishing or recording, touring and festivals
  • promotion and marketing, market and/or audience development activity
  • conservation and/or development of collections and archives (including Aboriginal Keeping Places and the digitisation of collections)
  • purchase of capital infrastructure and equipment
  • partnerships, capacity building and sustainability.

Regional Arts Fund

Grant Background: The Regional Arts Fund supports sustainable cultural development in regional and remote Australia and meets the strategic priorities of supporting participation in, and access to, the arts and encouraging greater private sector support for the arts. The Regional Arts Fund is designed to benefit regional and remote arts practitioners, arts workers, audiences and communities.

The objectives of the Fund are to support and promote participation in, and access to, Australia’s arts and culture in regional and remote Australia by:

  • Encouraging and supporting sustainable economic, social and cultural development in regional communities.
  • Developing partnerships and networks which leverage financial and/or in-kind support for specific projects and encourage ongoing collaboration.
