Seafood Innovation Fund

Funder:  NSW – Rural Assistance Authority

Grant Background: The NSW Government is offering low interest rate loans to assist commercial fishers and aquaculture farmers to identify and address risks to their business, improve permanent assets and infrastructure, ensure long-term productivity and sustainable use of the marine, estuarine and land-based environment.

The Seafood Innovation Fund will assist investment into four key areas:

  • Preparedness – adaptability to changing seasonal conditionals or climatic events of floods or droughts.
  • Environment – ensuring equipment has a minimal impact on the environment.
  • Fishing and Aquaculture Farming Equipment and Assets – replacement of unsafe or inefficient assets.
  • Transport & Logistics -ensuring that product reaches markets in optimum condition.

Rural Financial Counselling Service Programme

Funder:  Federal – Agriculture

Grant Background: The Australian Government is inviting applications via an open and competitive process to apply to deliver services under the Rural Financial Counselling Services Program in the 12 predefined service regions from 2021–22 to 2023–24. Applicants may apply for more than one service region, including across different states.

The RFCS Program is an Australian Government initiative that provides free and independent financial counselling to eligible farmers, fishers, foresters and small related enterprises who are experiencing, or at risk of, financial hardship.

The vision for the 2021 to 2024 RFCS Program is to empower clients to take control of their financial situation and cultivate financially capable primary producers that are profitable, self-reliant and resilient.

Regional & Small Publishers Innovation Fund

Funder:  Federal – Australian Communications & Media Authority

Grant Background: The Regional & Small Publishers Innovation Fund is seeking proposals that achieve one or more of the following outcomes:

  • improve the capacity of publishers and content service providers to generate revenue from the production of civic and public interest journalism (for example, advertising or subscription revenue)
  • support business improvement activities that sustain or strengthen the financial position of publishers and content service providers by:
    • increasing readership or distribution; and/ or
    • reducing operating costs through more efficient business practices
  • encourage innovation and experimentation in digital journalism.
