Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund

Grant Background: The Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund will provide $250 million of further funding to support the social and economic recovery of communities affected by bushfire in 47 regional NSW Local Government Areas.

It will support projects that retain and create new jobs in regional areas, build resilience and increase preparedness for future bushfire seasons.

Funding is available in the following three categories:

  • Infrastructure projects, such as roads to support increased industrial development.
  • Environmental projects, such as regeneration activities.
  • Programs including social, business and environmental education initiatives.

Infrastructure Grants

Funder:  NSW – Office of Responsible Gambling

Grant Background:  The NSW Government offers grants to communities across NSW to support the building, renovation and fit-out of infrastructure. Funding is available for arts and cultural infrastructure, sport and recreation infrastructure and projects that assist communities with essential infrastructure and disaster readiness.

To be eligible for funding, applications must meet eligibility conditions including, the project location, the applicant and project benefit, purpose and development status. There is also a requirement for local government applicants to match funding.

Infrastructure Grants can be used toward the costs of construction, alteration, renovation, completion and fit-out of buildings and community infrastructure in the following areas:

  • Arts & Culture
  • Disaster Readiness & Community Infrastructure
  • Sport & Recreation

Strengthening Rural Communities

Funder:  Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal

Grant Background: The Strengthening Rural Communities (SRC) program aims to give the thousands of small rural, regional and remote communities across Australia an opportunity to access funding to support broad community needs.  Given the events of summer 2019/20, it has also been expanded to offer funding to support recovery in bushfire-affected communities.

The program criteria are deliberately flexible, and designed to be able to help communities address different needs and opportunities, as and when they emerge.

A broad range of charitable projects are considered under this program, including:

  • Delivering, or providing activities, events, programs and services;
  • Purchasing or hiring equipment and materials;
  • Community infrastructure projects;
  • Organisational capacity building;
  • Community resource development.

Crown Reserves Improvement Fund

Grant Background: The Crown Reserves Improvement Fund Program (CRIFP) supports Crown land managers by providing funding for repairs and maintenance projects, pest and weed control, new recreational infrastructure or environmental initiatives. The funding aims to benefit the community, boost our economy and contribute to the cultural, sporting and recreational life of NSW.

The CRIFP provides financial support for the development, maintenance and improvement of Crown reserves. Grant and loan funding can be applied for each year.

Infrastructure Grants

Funder:  NSW – Office of Responsible Gambling

Grant Background:  The NSW Government offers grants to communities across NSW to support the building, renovation and fit-out of infrastructure. Funding is available for arts and cultural infrastructure, sport and recreation infrastructure and projects that assist communities with essential infrastructure and disaster readiness.

Infrastructure Grants are made possible through the NSW Government’s Clubgrants Category 3 Fund, which reinvests a contribution from the state’s registered clubs gaming machine profits back into community projects.

They will give priority to bushfire affected communities, to assist in the recovery efforts. This means these communities will be prioritised in funding decisions.

Infrastructure Grants can be used toward the costs of construction, alteration, renovation, completion and fit-out of buildings and community infrastructure in the following areas:

  • Arts & Culture
  • Disaster Readiness & Community Infrastructure
  • Sport & Recreation

Regional Agricultural Show Development Programme

Grant Background: Funding will be available to eligible regional show societies for the maintenance and upgrade of existing infrastructure and the building, purchase, rent or construction of new infrastructure related to the running of an agricultural show on regional showgrounds.

The objectives of the program are to help:

  1. keep agricultural shows running
  2. bring communities together
  3. bridge the divide between country and city.

Outcomes from the program are expected to include:

  1. improved amenity of showground infrastructure to improve the experience of showground users and visitors. The amenities can include but are not limited to, for example, new and/or improved exhibiting and seating facilities, upgrading existing buildings to meet contemporary accessibility standards, building new or upgrading existing roads and buildings.
  2. improved flexibility of use of showground infrastructure to increase the opportunity for it to be used for other events that bring the community together through the year.
  3. use of modern construction methods and materials that reduce on-going maintenance and repair of infrastructure.
  4. reduced operational costs for events conducted at and using showground facilities.
  5. greater variety of attractions to improve shows’ ability to attract visitors.

Drought Communities Programme

Grant Background: The extension of the Drought Communities Programme provides funding of $96 million in 2018-19 to Eligible Councils to deliver benefits to targeted drought-affected regions of Australia.

The program will support local community infrastructure and other drought relief projects for communities impacted by drought.

Funding will target infrastructure and other projects that:

  • provide employment for people whose work opportunities have been impacted by drought
  • stimulate local community spending
  • use local resources, businesses and suppliers
  • provide a long-lasting benefit to communities and the agricultural industries on which they depend.
