Museums & Galleries Small Grants

Funder:  Museums & Galleries of NSW

Grant Background: Small Grants aim to meet the short-term, collection-based requirements of community museums. There are no set categories for funding, and applications for a broad range of projects will be considered.

Previous Small Grants have funded the purchase of computer cataloguing software, exhibition mannequins and display cases, oral history recording equipment and archival storage items.

Note: Small Grants in 2020 will be prioritising projects related to COVID-19 and bushfire recovery

Community Heritage Grants

Funder:  National Library of Australia

Grant Background: The Community Heritage Grants (CHG) program provides grants to community organisations such as libraries, archives, museums, genealogical and historical societies, multicultural and Indigenous groups.

The grants are provided to assist with the preservation of locally owned, but nationally significant collections of materials that are publicly accessible including artefacts, letters, diaries, maps, photographs, and audio visual material.

The types of projects supported include:

  • significance assessments of collections
  • preservation needs assessments of collections
  • conservation activities and collection management, and
  • training workshops.

Heritage Grants

Funder:  Royal Australian Historical Society

Grant Background: The Small Grants Program for Local History and Archives is administered by the Royal Australian Historical Society on behalf of the NSW Government through the Heritage Council of NSW. Grants of up to $5,000 support the work undertaken by local historical societies, community organisations and individuals across NSW.

The projects should be relevant to understanding the history of NSW and its people and places.

The main priority areas for the 2020 grants are: – Migrant history – Disaster recovery and conservation of collections due to the NSW bushfires
