AgUp Program

Funder:  Federal – Agriculture

Grant Background: The Australian Government is inviting applications via a targeted competitive process to contribute towards outcomes under the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment’s Outcome 3 – More sustainable, productive, internationally competitive and profitable Australian agricultural, food and fibre industries through policies and initiatives that promote better resource management practices, innovation, self-reliance and improved access to international markets commencing in the 2021–22 financial year.

The AgUP grant program provides grants to co-fund industry-led (agriculture, fisheries and forestry) initiatives aimed at supporting jobs and retaining the Australian workforce by building skills, establishing and enhancing career progression pathways and mentoring opportunities. The grants will support initiatives that encourage the development of innovative approaches to career progression and support the retention and sustainability of the agriculture, fisheries and forestry sector workforce.

Murray–Darling Healthy Rivers Program – Large Grants

Funder:  Federal – Agriculture

Grant Background:   The Murray–Darling Healthy Rivers Program (Small Grants) aims to support community-led, on-ground projects to improve the health and ecological condition of rivers and wetlands in the Murray–Darling Basin, whilst also supporting economic development and jobs.

The intended outcomes are:

  • improved health and ecological conditions of rivers and wetlands in the Murray–Darling Basin
  • improved community involvement in restoring the environmental health of the Murray–Darling Basin
  • increased economic activity and employment in Basin communities as a result of grant funding.

NSW Small Business Innovation & Research Program

Funder:  NSW – Chief Scientist & Engineer

Grant Background: The NSW Small Business Innovation & Research (SBIR) program is an initiative of the NSW Government that provides competitive grants to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to find and commercialise innovative solutions to well-defined problems for NSW Government agencies.

The SBIR program is designed to:

  • Leverage the capacity of NSW SMEs and R&D to solve important problems for the NSW Government
  • Drive jobs and industry growth and support the development of innovative products and services in NSW.

The benefits of the SBIR program for NSW SMEs include:

  • grant funding to develop and commercialise a new technology or service
  • Working with the NSW Government to pilot and test solutions
  • Potential NSW Government contracts for successful solutions
  • Retaining intellectual property rights and the right to commercialise and sell solutions in domestic and global markets.

Regional Tourism Activation Fund

Funder:  NSW – Regional Growth Fund

Grant Background: The NSW Government’s Regional Tourism Activation Fund supports the development of unique and high impact tourism and events infrastructure that helps to boost local economies, create jobs and ensure visitors to regional NSW have unforgettable experiences that encourage repeat visitation. The Regional Tourism Activation Fund is also aiming to boost regional tourism and improve the visitor experience for people with disability in regional NSW by making funding available for:

  • the development of unique and high impact visitor experiences
  • visitor accessibility and inclusion enhancements.

Types of projects eligible for funding include:

  • construction of new tourism infrastructure and/or significant enhancements to existing infrastructure to create unique and high impact visitor experiences
  • upgrades and extensions to existing infrastructure to improve accessibility and inclusion linked to unique and high impact visitor experiences.

Tailored Employment Assistance Grants

Funder:  National Indigenous Australians Agency

Grant Background: Tailored Employment Assistance Grants (TAEG) aims to increase Indigenous employment and retention by funding tailored activities that respond flexibly to local employment conditions.

The two TAEG grant opportunity activity streams are:

  • Employment which aims to support Indigenous job seekers into sustainable employment; and
  • Schools Based Traineeships which aims to support Indigenous secondary school students to gain work experience and prepare for post-school transition into further study or employment.

Regional Job Creation Fund

Funder:  NSW – Regional NSW

Grant Background: The Regional Job Creation Fund supports regional investment and job creation by offering up to $10 million in co-funding to activate or bring forward regional projects in engine, enabling or emerging engine industries. Examples of eligible projects could include the:

  • replacement, upgrade or adaptation of plant and equipment at an existing regional NSW business
  • establishment of an additional production line for an existing regional NSW business
  • onshoring of activity currently done overseas to a regional NSW location
  • development of new regional tourism experiences and visitor attractions
  • relocation of a business operation from out of state to regional NSW.

The Regional Job Creation Fund’s focus is to co-fund projects creating at least five sustainable regional jobs.

Murray–Darling Basin Economic Development Grants

Funder:  Federal – Agriculture

Grant Background: The Murray-Darling Basin Economic Development Program (Round 3) is to assist eligible communities to undertake economic development projects to respond to the impact of water recovery activities under the Murray-Darling Basin Plan.

The intended outcomes of the program are to: increase the capacity of eligible communities to diversify and strengthen local economies; enhance the resilience of these communities to manage current and future economic challenges and changes; and increase the opportunities for employment within these communities.

The third round of the program is open to 38 eligible communities impacted by water recovery activities under the Murray-Darling Basin Plan.

Boosting Australia’s Diesel Storage Program

Funder:  Federal – Industry

Grant Background: The Boosting Australia’s Diesel Storage Program is part of the Government’s 10-year comprehensive fuel security package to increase Australia’s resilience to fuel supply disruptions, secure sovereign refining capability, and keep fuel prices low for consumers.

The objectives of the program are to:

  • provide matched funding to industry to construct new diesel storage that will result in an estimated 780ML of additional diesel storage being kept onshore. This quantity is estimated to be required for industry to meet the proposed minimum stockholding obligation by 2024
  • support job creation in local industries.

Manufacturing Modernisation Fund

Grant Background: The Manufacturing Modernisation Fund supports manufacturers by co-funding capital investments and associated reskilling to:

  • adopt new technologies
  • encourage innovation
  • become more productive and competitive in the market and
  • create more jobs.

The program aims to support small to medium manufacturing enterprises (SMEs) through:

  • investment in transformative manufacturing technology and processes
  • jobs growth and a more highly skilled workforce in the manufacturing sector.
