Grant Background:  The objective of the Clubgrants Category 3 Infrastructure Grants program is to fund the costs of construction, alteration, renovation, completion and fit-out of buildings and community infrastructure to deliver outcomes for disadvantaged NSW communities including regional, remote and drought-affected areas, culturally and linguistically diverse, disability and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and communities affected by bushfires.

Flood Recovery Small Business Grant

Funder:  NSW – Service

Grant Background: If you’re a small business or a not-for-profit organisation, and you’ve been directly impacted by the storms and floods in NSW from 19 February 2021 to 7 April 2021, you may be eligible for a flood disaster recovery small business grant.

The flood disaster recovery small business grant is to help pay for costs of clean-up and reinstatement of a small business or not-for-profit organisation’s operations.

You must be a small business or a not-for-profit organisation in a defined disaster area to be eligible. If you’re a primary producer, you may be eligible for financial assistance tailored to your industry. Please visit the Rural Assistance Authority for information on the financial assistance available to primary producers.

Preparing Australian Communities

Funder:  National Recovery & Resilience Agency

Grant Background:  The Preparing Australia Program will support projects that mitigate or reduce the disaster risk, impact and consequence associated with large-scale natural hazards. There is $150 million available from 2021–22 to 2024–25 for this grant opportunity.

The objectives of the Preparing Australia Program are to:

  • improve the long-term resilience of Australian communities and households to natural hazards including bushfires, floods and tropical cyclones
  • deliver disaster risk reduction projects that reduce hazard exposure or vulnerability and are aligned with the recommendations of the Royal Commission into National Natural Disaster Arrangements and the National Disaster Risk Reduction Framework.

Natural Disaster Loan for Small Business

Funder:  NSW – Rural Assistance Authority

Grant Background: The Natural Disaster Loan provides low interest loans to small businesses directly affected by a declared natural disaster.

The loan is intended to help small businesses:

  • return to their normal level of trading or until the next major income is received within 12 months from the date of disaster
  • replace and repair damage caused and associated improvements not covered by insurance.

Special Disaster Grants – Storms & Floods

Funder:  NSW – Rural Assistance Authority (RAA)

Grant Background: The Special Disaster Grant – Storms & Floods is available to eligible primary producers, following the declaration of a Natural Disaster by the NSW Government and approval of the Australian Government. This assistance measure is only provided in event of Natural Disasters that have severely affected communities, regions or sectors.

To make it easier for you to apply, the RAA has access to third party damage assessment information, for example high-resolution imagery, to confirm the extent of the impacts in declared storm & flood-affected local government areas in NSW. However, it is important that you provide reasonable evidence of storm and/or flood damage with your application so they can fully assess your situation.

Suncorp Rebuilding Futures

Funder:  Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR)

Grant Background: Suncorp’s Rebuilding Futures program seeks to support communities to strengthen their resilience through long-term recovery from a significant natural disaster by undertaking community-identified and community-led long-term recovery activities for public benefit.

The Rebuilding Futures program encourages communities to build back better to reduce the impact of future disasters on community wellbeing and physical infrastructure. The first grant round is for communities in New South Wales and South-East Queensland impacted by the March 2021 flood events.

Funder:  National Australia Bank Foundation

Grant Background:  NAB Foundation Community Grants can help you safeguard your community with funding for projects that prepare for natural disasters, support long-term recovery and build resilience against future disasters. They fund local projects aiming to do one or more of the following:

  • help people and places prepare for natural disasters
  • assist in short and long-term recovery efforts
  • build community resilience against future disasters
  • strengthen the environment to be more resilient to natural disasters
  • help communities reduce their climate risk.
